About

The magnificent coastline and splendid forest of the Great Southern region, WA, forms a large part of the inspiration for Peter Usher’s recent paintings. He has held 13 solo exhibitions within 13 years and maintains a strong and diverse art practice from his forest studio in Denmark WA.

“I feel that there is a significant shift in my recent work that reflects my own ongoing and deepening relationship to the landscape where I live and work”.

Peter’s work demonstrates a combination of highly refined technique and observational painting, with a willingness to embrace new creative ideas and challenges. His use of detailed brushwork, subtle colour transitions and textural complexity, are all underpinned by a strong conceptual foundation. Usher’s work offers unique interpretations of the West Australian land and seascape. Each painting is a distilled vision with the essence of experience and place at its core.
